Jumping from cloud to cloud

Watching the stories of life unfold

The grass green and just the slightest breeze

The sunshine made us feel alive

Stories written in the heart with the soul tipped pen

Reaching out for you, no matter the lifetime we’re living in

I found you before I ever met you

I found you in the letters sent in the days of old

I found you between the lines in this book of poems

I found you everywhere I never looked

On the pages of every story written in every book

I found you right when I had given up hope

Right when I got comfortable living cold

I found you only after I had buried myself

I found you only after I bared my soul

I found you and finally, I don’t feel alone

I found you and I had been looking for so long

Between the notes in every song

In the early light when night turns into morn

I found you in every carved name surrounded by a heart

In every whisper between lovers late at night

In the wanting and hoping of lovers apart

I found you before I ever met you

And I never knew

All along I had been yearning for you

It’s always been you
